I'm not Lost...

2 min read

Today I felt the need to remind myself of something.

Changing direction doesn’t always mean I chose the wrong path.

Maybe I simply changed.

It’s strange to realise that. I spent so many years building a life, making plans, believing that some things would last forever. And then life happened. Some things stayed. Others disappeared. Some choices simply stopped making sense.

And for a while, I confused that with failure.

As if I had failed somewhere along the way.

As if I had made one wrong decision and now had to find the exact point where everything started to go wrong.

But maybe nothing went wrong.

Maybe life simply happened.

Life didn’t wait for my plans. And I didn’t stay the same either.

Today, I am a different woman from the one who made so many of the choices that brought me here. And perhaps it is unfair to expect the woman I am today to still want exactly what the woman I was yesterday wanted.

There are things I still want.

There are things I no longer want.

And there are things I don’t even know I want yet.

For the first time, I think I can let that be.

I don’t need to have the next chapter completely mapped out.

I don’t need to know where I’ll be in five years, who I’ll be, or what my life will look like.

I can simply take the next step.

And then another.

Without turning every decision into a promise for the rest of my life.

I want to remember that.

I want to keep making plans because I love dreaming. I want to keep wanting things. I want to keep building.

But I also want to leave a few pages blank.

Because perhaps the most beautiful life isn’t the one I can imagine right now.

Perhaps it’s the one I haven’t imagined yet.

And maybe one day I’ll look back and realise that I wasn’t lost.

I simply stopped following a path that was no longer mine.

Maybe some of the best things in my life are still waiting for me.

What a beautiful thought.

And for now, I think that’s enough.

I don’t need to know the way.

I just need to trust that there is still a way.

And keep going.
