Today my heart celebrates what would have been my grandmother’s 100th birthday.

It’s impossible to put into words what it meant to have her in my life for my first 20 years. She was passion, strength, courage and charm all wrapped in one unforgettable woman, with a touch of sass that made everything brighter. She loved red, she loved to dance and she loved life with a boldness that taught me what it means to be truly alive. “Dance is life, my sweet heart!” she would say, and somehow she made even the simplest moments feel like music.
She broke the rules of her time, challenged what was expected, and stood fiercely for what she believed in, even if it meant standing in front of a truck. She walked into any room and instantly knew every story inside it. That was her magic.
But where she touched me most was in the quiet ways she loved. She never said “I love you” out loud, but she spoke it through early-morning breakfasts, favourite dishes made just for me, the soft advice i pretended not to hear and the silence she offered when that was what my heart needed. Her love was steady, deep and wordless… the kind that stays with you forever.
Today, i raise my glass to her 100 years.
To the woman who showed me courage, tenderness and joy.
To the woman whose love still guides me.
To the woman i hope, one day, i’ll be brave enough to become. ❤️
Happy 100th, Grandma. Your dance lives in me.
